Of the most hypnotizing order, Portland, Or.‘s Lynnae Gryffin creates songs that are almost not songs, but instead long walks through woodland folklore. It’s something ancient and indirect. Amazing (and brilliantly odd) ambient guitar work mixes with a voice that is as much wise scholar as it is child-like wonder.

Lynnae Gryffin- William Reminder

Cassette tapes mix with dance beats and ambient-noise soundscapes, all under the guise of indie folk music. Not adhering to any genre, this is an album as experimental as it is catchy. Released on Yoyo Records, recorded and produced by Evan Hashi. Slip cases with insert.

Letters- Musk of This Ink

With a household of half-broken instruments, a penchant for electronic destruction, and field recordings from around the world, Blindfolder creates music unlike anything else. Part ambient soundscape, part beat manipulation, and part circus sideshow, Blindfolder exists outside the bounds of classification. Organic computer compositional improv obsessions. An 18 song, hour long tape. The project of Kieran Harrison-Buehlinger from Corespondents, Shana Cleveland & The Sandcastles, Cock & Swan, and many other Seattle bands...[ continued ] Blindfolder- Dub Junk

The b-side: pulsing prettiness over (breakcore-inspired) IDM beats. Hand spray-painted by the artist herself, comes with a digital download code, bordering on weird cassingle- perfect for the Foxdye collector in us all.

DJ Dogwater- Bumper Lullaby

The new solo debut from Erica Freas (of RVIVR, Lightning Round). Folk anthems to play over and over. Songs that empower. Paying tribute to family, animals, the earth, life and death and everything in between. 10 songs, beautifully printed covers and inserts.

Erica Freas- The Sound

The drone of Marlo Eggplant meets the noisy digital hardcore of Dental Work. One long piece in 5 movements. Paint gets torn off walls, autoharps get broken, breakcore gets reinvented, a whip gets cracked and someone flies a plane into the room.

In the vein of the future roots sound, comes 10 tracks from Portland’s Bone Rock. Soul-infused hip hop beats that wander out of sync, jazz loops, dub grooves, and occasional dubstep wobbles. The first official release on Portland’s now-thriving Dropping Gems label.
